August was wonderful and awful at the same time. I came across this quote the other day and it is super encouraging for anyone who has been or is currently in a “dark moment”
“In the darkness we have a choice that is not really there in better times. We can choose to serve God just because he is God. In the darkest moments we feel we are getting absolutely nothing out of God or out of our relationship to him. But what if then—when it does not seem to be paying or benefiting you at all—you continue to obey, pray to, and seek God, as well as continue to do your duties of love to others? If we do that—we are finally learning to love God for himself, and not for his benefits.” ~Tim Keller
And with that in mind, here are some of the brighter moments that God has blessed me with in August.
these boys absolutely love their baby sister

my dad turned 60 in August–family dinner at Olive Garden
national frozen custard day in my new favorite dress 🙂
If you think a dress is gaudy, chances are that I would happily put it on Evangeline. The more frills, the better
baby Zeke is here and I love him 🙂
Liam is 6–which means I’ve been a mom for 6 years!! Crazy!
dollar tree made this kid’s dreams come true with their bow and arrow–he’s ready for a wooden one now!
and because I couldn’t not celebrate national burger day—
a leftover burger reheated with a waffle iron. #wafflebun
This weekend Don and I will be celebrating 7 years of marriage!
Happy September!
