August iphone photos and Kids Say

Wow! It’s September already. August was a pretty crazy month, as I knew it would be. Now September is here and I feel like there is always so much to do! The past couple of days have consisted of me painting our guest bathroom. We also started school this week (just Science.) We will be diving in to all of the other subjects next week, once the rest of our books arrive.

Before these pictures get buried any further into my camera roll, here are some iphone photos from August.

Desmond played along with me as we found a couple more backgrounds for #dresstherainbow. But I think Desmond wins the prize. He was committed to dressing the rainbow.

August was the month we bought our first house! We had lots of amazing people who helped us in so many ways (including Maggi and Jeremy, pictured below) Thank you to everyone who helped clean, move, or provide food for us this month! We are so very grateful for all of you!

I had to get a picture of all 4 of my kids who slept in the nursery I had painted for Liam before he was born. (4th photo) So many memories in that house.

Rachel and I were able to find a red wall! Thank you, Target!

Liam turned 7 this month. We love this little guy. I stare at him and wonder how he grew up so quickly. He has always dreamed of being an artist when he grows up. But as we’re reading about space in our Science, he now says he wants to be an engineer for NASA–and he’ll do art for his hobby.

His very specific request for his cake. Yellow and teal stripes. Covered in sprinkles–but no sprinkles on top!

Desmond wakes me up around sunrise most mornings. So I always have to sneak a peek through the windows in the living room. (3rd photo)

For anyone who has been to our house and has noticed the cat door (3rd picture)…It’s being put to good use!

And since I have you here…a short and sweet edition of Kids Say

Kai–“Mosquitoes eat your skin and then drink your blood.”

Kingston–“that’s really cool.”

Kingston–“What’s for dessert?”
Me–“I’m not sure if we’re having dessert tonight.”
Kingston–“But there has to be dessert…..I need dessert.”

Me–“Isn’t it cool that we have a new house?”
Liam–“Yeah, now we can do anything we want when we’re in there…except lie.”

Me–“Guys, today is Desmond’s one month birthday.”
Kai–“So how old is he now?”

Me–“I’ll turn 28 on my birthday.”
Liam–“I’m not sure if you will.”
Me–“Why not?”
Liam–“Because you might die before then.”

kids say and July iphone photos

July. So crazy. So wonderful. I figured I didn’t have enough to do around here so I thought I would take the time to share my July iPhone pictures and another “kids say.”

Liam–“hey guys! Do you want to play a funny game called ‘Destroy the World’?”

Liam–“That’s weird. My tummy is hurting.”
Me–“Is it because you’re hungry? Or do you think you’re going to throw up?”
Liam–“Nah. It’s just a plain ol’ tummy ache.”

Kai–“Did Bob Ross used to go to our church but now he doesn’t because he decided he wanted to be a painter?”

Kai–“I remember when Pastor Scott taught us about Noah’s Ark.”
Me–“You do?”
Kai–“Yeah….or maybe that was Kimmy….
…..or maybe Kimmy wasn’t at church that day so I was in Miss Becky’s class.”

Liam thought that the Lord’s Supper plates were the offering plates, so as the deacons were heading our way, he leaned over to me and whispered “Mommy, are you ready to pay your bill?”

Kingston–“I can’t wait for Desmond to be born. Then your tummy will be little. And I could sit on you.”

Liam–“Mommy, how come it smells like Doritos every time you come in here?”
**I feel like it should be noted that I really don’t ever eat Doritos so that question is a mystery haha

Liam–“Everyone has hair on their arms.”
Kai–“Except Jesus.”

Two days after having Desmond, Kai saw my stomach and said “Woah mommy! Your tummy is so small!” And he immediately became my favorite person in the world.

Kai–“Did you know that speedboats are as fast as zebras?”

I overheard Liam trying to sing “He is Exalted.” His version went “He is exhausted, the King is exhausted on high, i will praise Him.”

My last 2 maternity photos before Desmond’s arrival. It’s amazing to think of how miserable I was during that week yet I find myself being sad that it’s all over.

My new favorite hashtag project, #dresstherainbow. I’m on the lookout for colored walls around St. Louis. So if you know of any, let me know!

Yes, my hands are full. But I also have to say…my heart has never felt more full.

We are down to the last days before we move. I am so excited to start a new chapter in our lives as we finally will own our first home. But also feeling all the emotions of leaving the house that we’ve lived in for the past 8 years. Our first home together, the home that we have brought each of our 5 children home to. With the best landlords and neighbors you could ever imagine. It’s bittersweet. But I can’t wait to share our new house with you all very soon!
